We can't accuse the golf club manufacturers for focusing on their most prosperous market of right-handed golf players, but it is quite hard for those golfers who play left handed to get the selection available to the conventional players.
I have known a couple of golf players who made the switch early on by training to play right handed but yet this is impractical for most people. You have to be playing in the most natural way you can and if that means left handed in that case so be it.
Sad to say with everything nowadays it all comes right down to economics and also profitability and there simply isn't enough money to be made for most suppliers in the left-handed industry.
The ratio of left handed golf players to right handed golf players is somewhere around 8 percent so the industry is quite small, although it is a target market that several brands are focusing on although at more cost in most cases.
But there is always a silver lining to the issues that we might come across.
At a recent tournament event, I was introduced to an old chap who was playing on a small disadvantage and had done this for many years. Throughout the discussion he talked about left-handed clubs and the idea that he had started playing left handed in the beginning.
He hadn't learnt the way to play from an expert and had grown some bad strategies.
Eventually, because of frustration with his performance and the inadequacy to source the golf clubs he wanted to, he employed some professional aid. After much dialogue it was decided that he should try out playing right handed and the golf pro would provide him with the required training.
It was a blessing as he was successfully starting from scratch and he learned the way to play golf without any of the horrible techniques that he had developed on his own. The switch from left to right, along with the professional training had held him in good steed throughout his golf playing career.
Indeed, it was a huge decision that almost all golfers wouldn't do, but you will never beat a golf player at trying to improve his performance regardless of what steps they might do.
