Political Left: Several Basic Information You Need To Know
The label political left is sometimes applied to describe a liberal or a Democrat. Generally a liberal was someone who believed in the rights of the individual. They desired to cut back the impact of the Church or religious sects without defying the conventions of the Constitution. They were often associated with being the patriots of liberty and would appear, on paper at least, to be extra tolerant and extra generous.
The political right on the other hand could be used to describe someone who was extra conservative in their outlook on life. If a hostile condition arose within the Middle East for instance, whereas the political left would be ready to work with the UN and try to attain a peaceful settlement, the right would generally advocate an armed response specifically if they thought the USA was at risk.
The political right was usually associated with being American patriots.
Historically, the Republicans would have been seen to assist the military as well as its veterans, although it is debatable whether that is still the case. They believed in a business spirit, after all this is the USA where a person could become rich if they believe in their dreams. With the current financial downturn, there are many people who believe that those on the political right would support the capitalistic value at the expense of regular people's pensions and stock holdings.
Regardless of whether you see eye to eye or oppose with either party, it is more than obvious that there are extreme viewpoints on both sides. For example various conservatives believe that each person must be responsible for their own healthcare, education etc. After all if others can do well why can't everybody? They do not buy into the fact that some folks just are not cut out to be entrepreneurs.
There are also issues on the political left which has been accused of stifling the American dream by way of its economic strategy. No matter which side of the political arena you sit, one thing is definite. You will never be bored if you are studying, or mixed up in, politics.
